Academic details/historical research is beautifully interwoven into a fascinating, very readable novel, with exciting storylines and believable characters... Salvatore being one of my favourites!

Fascinating reminder that the past is a different place- read it and marvel at our history

This novel fictionalizes the life of St Patrick. It begins in 406 AD when life in Britain is unstable and the formerly Roman lands were subject to invasions by warring tribes. It is a brutal time and one where civilisation meant the keeping of slaves and commonly, the use of women as chattels. In a violent invasion, Patricius is captured and taken as a slave by the Gauls in Hibernia. His horrendous experiences there lead him to want to return later in life and bring the Christian faith of goodness and mercy to their land.  

The novel is extremely well researched and well written, with excellent descriptions of ancient Ireland and its way of life. It leads you to consider the idea of magic and miracle in religion, and how these things were used to convert people to God (s). Both genuine experience and trickery can be seen at work in this novel, not least when Patricius must defeat the Druids at their own brand of magic.  

Patricius himself is deeply flawed, and an explanation for this choice is made at the end of the book. He has his good points too, a deep love for animals, and a willingness to try to atone for this sin that haunts him. The novel covers his whole life and is a great introduction for anyone who knows little about him. Clear notes explain what is fact and what is fiction.  I recommend this book to all who are interested in Roman, Irish or Christian history, and are prepared to set aside their preconceptions about what a Saint should look like. Thoroughly worth reading.

Great Read

The Missionary by Rowena Kinread is a brilliantly written historical novel about Patricius, who later came to be known as St. Patrick. The story begins long ago when nations in Europe were fighting for survival. The author accurately and succinctly describes the conditions of the day, while embracing the historical, cultural, and developing religious elements. You will learn much reading this book. St. Patrick is well described, a truly interesting character and one that saved Ireland from the Druids. You will love the depth of detail as you read this book, you can tell the author did extensive research to bring the time and place to life. You feel as though you are right there in the midst of the turmoil and trying times. Highly recommend for an immersive and entertaining read.

A fascinating visit to enhanced history!

British author Rowena Kinread devotes her writing skills to history themes. Though her novels are fiction, they are indeed based on true characters. THE MISSIONARY is her debut publication and is one of the more engrossing works about Irish history, using the course of the life of Patricius – Saint Patrick – to sculpt a wondrous reflection on the early fourth century development of Ireland.
Able to paint vivid atmosphere creates credibility as the story opens – ‘It had been unbearably hot all day: one of those rare days when the sun had burnt relentlessly out of a cobalt blue sky. Towards evening, threatening black clouds had gathered deep in the sky, but they hadn’t broken and it had become intensely humid. It was night now, and Patricius lay uncovered on his pallet, sticky with sweat…He tossed back and forth, knowing he should try to rest…sleep didn’t come…He was much too disturbed. His heart raced; he felt it beating wildly against his chest. He couldn’t get Flavia out of his mind. He was so ashamed. What could he do to make everything right…?’ In that brief portion many traits of the novel’s primary character are defined. With this debut novel, Rowena Kinread establishes herself as an author to watch. She is next visiting Scotland’s history with THE SCOTS OF DALRAIDA due out this year. Very highly recommended, especially for lovers of historical fiction.

Interesting and captivating

I very much enjoyed this story. Even though it is a fiction book, I learnt so much about European history of the early centuries. I learnt about many lands that later became parts of the UK and Ireland, but in the early age these numerous little lands were independent and governed by kings. It was interesting to get a glimpse into the everyday life of the people that populated these lands. The Europeans of that period worked hard for their daily bread and constantly had to defend themselves from invaders and sometimes from their own governments. Their culture also made their life more difficult, because most of them were ignorant pagans, guided by superstition. Saint Patrick played a key role in educating and pulling these people into the next level of development of religious and philosophical thought.
The story of Patricius (Saint Patrick) starts from a very brutal experience of being enslaved by pirates, and then the plot unfolds into an interesting and sometimes breath-taking adventure. Patricius manages not only to survive but also thrive and accomplish a lot of good deeds during his life. His contribution to the development of education and replacing paganism with more advanced Christianity in Hibernia (now Ireland) and other lands are commendable.
The book is very well written and captivating. After reading each chapter, I couldn’t wait to read the next.

A gripping page turner

The Missionary brings to life a little known period of history in the 5th century A.D. The life story of Ireland’s patron saint, St Patrick is a gripping page turner! I look forward to more books from the author Rowena Kinread who has so vividly brought to life St Patrick’s harsh and brutal capture by pirates as a teenager to his priesthood and calling to convert the pagan tribes of Ireland to Christianity.

Superb attention to detail, very raw and real!

This book needs to be read by everybody! It transports you back in time to where life is raw, harsh and brutal but St. Patrick’s determination to survive and live for God and spread his teachings is astounding. It makes you feel like you are actually there & experiencing it all!

This book is a hidden gem and would make a wonderful film.

If you know anyone in the film industry tell them to read this book. The author has gone to extraordinary lengths to make it historically accurate yet it is a gripping story that will keep you intimately involved until the last page. The characters are beautifully crafted and the landscapes painted with the eye of a true artist. If you have any Irish blood in your veins read about your ancestors!

This is a fascinating read and amazing story

Patricius doesn't just live within the pages of The Missionary, but his legend as Saint Patrick lives on in the hearts of the Irish people.

Rowena Kinread brings honor to a great man in her historical fiction and spreads his memory to those who don't know much about him. Though this is fiction, the history rings true and gives depth to this book. You finish this novel wishing you could accomplish just a smidgen of the greatness Saint Patrick did in the past.

Through an intricate weave of historical events, dangerous adventures, and a religious drive, The Missionary is a fast pace and riveting novel. Rowena Kinread keeps the history authentic, making this more of an ancient thriller. My favorite take from this book is the fact that Patricius overcame hardship and adversity and went about doing good.

The Missionary is my first Kinread book, and I’m going to say that she hit it out of the park.

There are a lot of historical elements to this book, following St. Patrick (Patricius) throughout his life to become the historical figure we all now know. The sheer amount of research and actual historical events brought to life by Kinread is stunning. She paints a picture that brings history to life. The characters, setting, and writing jump off the page.  The story doesn’t lull.

The writing kept the pages moving, and I found myself interested in how our beloved St. Patrick got from one adventure to another. His resolve and faith in this book, strengthened by his turmoil rather than broken by it, can make you think about how life can test your resolve. The fires forge you into steel, of course, quenched only by the cooling waters of devotion to your faith and beliefs.

  Fantastic book. I’ve already recommended it to a few friends. You should give it a shot if you haven’t!

I’ve always had a passion for history. It doesn’t matter to me so much whether work like this is fiction or non-fiction, as it’s the groundwork that goes into them that’s detailed and obviously well researched.

  The Missionary by Rowena Kinread is a story about the life of Patricius (St Patrick). A young man taken from his home after Gaelic pirates attacked his village. After many years as a slave he manages to escape where his religious life purpose begins.  This book is so well written that I felt a part of the action. I can tell that Rowena Kinread is a writer who cares for the details.

It was a believable story, full of facts, interesting plotlines, and characters with real personality and depth. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves history in general or wants to find out more about the past and especially Patricius, St Patrick.

I write this review a month after reading the book, and the story still rolls round my mind, the characters still speak to me, I can close my eyes and see the Irish and Scottish Scenery, hear the voices.  It is a story crafted like a patchwork quilt, out of fragments of other things, some historical, some imaginative, a bit of history, a romance, an intrique, many murders... everything is related to everything else, and yet there are also many complete stories within it, each satisfying in different ways.  There are four brothers, three of full blood and loyal to one another, the fourth of half- blood and loyal to nobody. They are each beautifully differentiated, with different ambitions, different destinies, including the wonderful Fergus who will one day, after many struggles and setbacks, be the elected king of Scotland. I loved the relationships between them. I completely believed in the world the author created around them, with all its brutality and hardships, so I am prepared to believe that it is a well- researched book, though I don't know the period.  I also, by the way, loved the horse: it would be worth reading the book just for that story, actually, though it creeps in gently and takes a clever while to work out.

Such a spellbinding tale. The author skilfully takes the reader through a thrilling period of 5th century history with the establishment of the Dalriada clan in Scotland following numerous sails across the sea from the tip of Northern Ireland. The novel has it all; love, hate, war, dastardly deeds, heroic bravery, entrepreneurship, all within evocative descriptions of the hardship of life in those times. A wonderful hero, Fergus, emerges who, with his brothers, achieves a great deal of good and is so respected that he is ultimately crowned King of the Dalriadas. Fergus achieved monumental improvements for the life of his people in his three short years of power before tragically dying in a storm whilst making yet another crossing. The links with today are educational as the first recorded anointing of a King in the UK was the King of the Dalriadas in Western Scotland centuries later. Some historians also believe that the stone used below the throne is the same stone used for coronations today. How much has changed from the 5th to the 21st century, but as this superb author convinces us, so much of the most important human experience remains the same.

I bought this book on #KindleUnlimited and admit I knew nothing about early Scottish or Irish history, so this was really interesting. It is not for the faint-hearted as early on in the book it contains the sort of sex and violence you might expect from warring tribes of this era. Hand to hand fighting with sword and fists is a very different battlefield to that of today. Don’t let this put you off though, as it is extremely well-researched with episodes covering a vast swathe of history. The sort of hand to mouth existence is well-described, the flat-bottomed boats, the reliance on horses, the language of Brittonic, the burns and brochs, the rocks and seashore. I loved the travel between Scotland and Ireland, and the description of life in the Irish fort at Tara, Meath.  I enjoyed Fergus’ character as he grows and develops. The characters are rough men, used to fighting, manipulating, wielding threats and death to those that cross them. Erc was a great character – he dispenses the wisdom born of age, and came across as hard-headed but realistic. ‘If you receive favours instead of being a leader by merit, then your men will not trust you wholly, nor follow you blindly’.  There is a lot in this novel and you have to keep your wits about you as a reader as it zips from place to place. Rowena Kinread’s love of the history of these people shines through and for anyone interested in their Scottish or Irish origins, or early Christian and Druid history, it is a must read.

The Scots of Dalriada is a rousing book of historical fiction in which the order of the day is about sailing boats of invading armies by powerful families of north-east Ireland to obtain more lands and slaves!

  The book confers glimpses of boat building and fishing; agriculture and war-based commerce and industry; migration, settlement, marriage and intermarriages; and the relevance of having male offspring to fortify and retain a seat of power.  Incidentally, the book poignantly shows as well that this is a period when female and women offspring have no significance in terms of the succession of power and throne; a period when diarrhea is unmanageable and a mystery; an era when herds of cattle, sheep, and cows are more important than humans!  

The novel specifically converges on Fergus Mor – the legendary ruler of Scots alongside the perpetual threat of murder and ending his life by Cartan – his ‘half-brother’.  The author’s sensible narratives of ‘untying and tying the knots’ in light of facts and imagination - all at the same time - are commendable! The book accomplishes well in revealing the protagonist and antagonist's lives in a full circle. Leaving a satisfying read.  I enjoyed very much reading the Chapter Seven of this book, it mirrors the playful creativity of the author and her deep grasp of history. Chapter Seven superbly describes the extent and implications of boredom! How it manifests in daily living: the food available on the table; the comportment of each individual, the people, families and children; the ladies; the army, their commanders and rulers; and the overall, identity and panorama of medieval times.  Although the book does not showcase much of strings of ‘reflective’ narratives - in which the point of view of the main character is dominantly highlighted, author Rowena Kinread, however, chooses and pens logical and entertaining scenes, lines, and exchanges of dialogues in the format of present tense thus depicting and expounding vibrantly the despondencies and flutter of life in medieval times, in war or at rest - contributive to a compelling historical fiction! Moreover, worth mentioning is that the author diligently writes the title of each chapter, a short introduction of each character and the mindful translation of the Scot language and terms.  A book full of adventures, wonders, the carnage of war and human greed, dashes of romantic scenes, brotherhood, family and friendship bond, loyalty and bravery; and an endless parade of life lessons!  A relevant and entertaining read! Une lecture pertinente et divertissante!

 I knew this was going to be an exceptional read and I was right. I don't know how to do this book justice, it was harrowing and raw and one of the best pieces of mythology someone could read. It's a fine mix of love amidst, treachery, deceit and murder with a historical background. It takes us to 5th century, a little known part of Irish and Scottish history. The people, the culture and the traditions of that time is vividly explained by the author.  Fergus, Loarn and Angus, princes of the Dalriada are forced into exile. Fergus falls helplessly in love with a Scottish princess, already promised to someone else. What happens when the rulers of Scotland and England claim descent from Fergus? Who forced the three brothers into exile? And how did they achieve more than they could possibly dream of?  The book was well organised by topics and incredibly engaging and well written. I think this is such an important book to experience to get a realistic grasp on Irish and Scottish history that invites you to really engage and discuss the world we're living in. Overall, this was a fascinating page turner.

The story is about three brothers- Fergus, Loarn and Angus, and of the migration of the Scoti people from Ireland to western Caledonia. Fergus is widely recognised as the first King of Scotland, giving Scotland its name and its language. Fergus, Loarn and Angus together achieved more than they could possibly dream of. But soon things change and they are forced into exile by their scheming half-brother and the druidess Birga One-tooth. To know what happened next, you must read this fantastic book.  The story is so absorbing and thrilling that it will leave you agape after each chapter seeking for more. The author's writing style is engaging and descriptive, allowing you to visualize every scene in your mind's eye.  It is a fast-paced and action-packed story. The plot is well developed. The characters are well portrayed. The fabulous narration makes it a smooth read.  The language is adequately clear and praises with the plot setting. It is totally eccentric with enough exciting bends in the road. The title and cover fit the entire story.  Overall it was a fantastic read. I highly recommend this book to all my fellow readers.

These guys are Princes and they're in a tough spot because of their tricky half-brother and a druidess named Birga One-tooth.  The book is all about their adventures and struggles. Fergus, who's pretending to be a stable guy, falls in love with a princess who's already promised to someone else. Loarn is all about battles with the Picts, and Angus is into making cool longboats.  What's cool is how these brothers work together to face their problems. They have to deal with bad stuff like betrayals and deceit, but they stick together and get stronger. I liked how they each have their own challenges to overcome, and you really root for them.  The story has a lot going on, like forbidden love, battles, and tricky politics. But the author makes it all easy to follow, and I was hooked from the start. The characters feel real, especially Fergus, who's smart and caring. I could really picture the scenes and feel like I was right there.  The best thing about the book is how it mixes real history with made-up storylines. You learn about what life was like back then, and it's pretty fascinating. The book made me care about these brothers and what happened to them.  This part towards the end brought tears to my eyes: “Mother, we will never forget my father, I’m afraid I am not worthy to follow in his footsteps.” “Oh yes, my son, you are. Your father would be proud of you, as I am too” “I will do my best and try to do everything as he would’ve done.”  If you're into history and adventure, "The Scots of Dalriada" is worth reading. It's got excitement, drama, and a story that keeps you turning the pages.

'The Scots of Dalriada' by Rowena Kinread is one of the best historical fictions I've read until now. Set in the fifth century, the story is about three brothers, Fergus, Loarn, and Angus, Princes of the Dalriada, who are forced into exile by their scheming half-brother and the druidess Birga. The brothers are now supposed to fight against the enemies by making themselves powerful. The background is Scotland and England. Fergus Mór (The Great) who is widely known as the first King of Scotland, was an important character in the book. He is regarded a lot for his leadership qualities. Will the brothers be able to stay together and fight?  The theme is not just history but also adventure, action, jealousy, trachery, family drama, and revenge. There are many twists and turns filled in the book, which makes the reading more exciting. The 'family drama' aspect added spice to the story. The plot was intriguing and is a treat to all the fans of historical fiction.

A complex and lyrical family saga that set me in mind of other sagas I have read and loved, from Homer to the Orkneyinga Saga. I listened to the book on an e-reader, and it worked well in that fashion - I could imagine these tales being told by a bard over feasts, long ago, but when they were already old stories. Through a circuitous narrative, jumping in time and place and person, and full of stories and sub-stories, we follow the journeys of three brothers - a warrior, a boat builder and a tamer of horses - and of their unscrupulous half brother who would usurp them all. Reading it, I felt keenly the dangers and harshness of the time, the ever-presence of rivals, the uncertainty of survival. Fergus, the brother who will become the first king of a barely united Scotland, is at the centre of this tale, and in his narrative arc one sees him come of age, take on the mantle of authority, suffer setbacks, grow wise - out of the few details of an uncertain "history", the author has created a rich and interesting figure who seemed both completely of his time and immediately compelling. The other two brothers are also well drawn and I cared about their fate, admired their courage and felt grateful for their loyalty - just as I minded about the treachery of the disloyal and ambitious half brother is also always there in their struggle. Most of all I loved the two key women of this story - the first an older woman who brings Fergus's father to manhood, the second the girl with whom Fergus falls in love, who must marry another but whom he cannot forget,. Their love story is both glorious and heartbreaking. There are so many stories between these covers. A rich, rewarding read.

Literally Epic!  Rowena Kinread writes a grand historical family saga with the Scots of Dalriada. I haven't read anything by this author before, and what a hidden gem. enjoyed it so much, that I have now followed the author and look for more books to read. The reader is introduced to brothers, Fergus, Loarn, and Angus, all princes, but they are dealing with a family problem, namely their half-brother who finds that power is a powerful thing to misuse, and is an unusually unpredictable villain. Each brother has their own fate, yet they need to realize that they have to work together, rather than separately. This story is full of twists, and unpredictability, along with having to deal with loyalty, betrayal, and even murder. It takes place in historical Scotland, and I found it interesting from the beginning to the end. There was a lot going on in the story, but the basis is the connection of the brothers, and how it brings the whole story together. This is one of those books that grabs you from the start and pulls you in. An emotional rollercoaster. A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. Both thrilling and intriguing, all the way to the end. The Scots of Dalriada is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. The story is full of many twists and turns when the brothers are forced to separate and hide from their vengeful half-brother. Leaving behind all they know the brothers have to get used to being on their own and try to settle in their new lives. As time passes and they strive to build a life for themselves they realise they need to work together to secure future for themselves. This is a very well written story that keeps you interested and engaged from start to finish. A very enjoyable read.

I love reading historical fiction. Rather than the well-known historical stuff I would prefer reading ones which are less explored. This book, The Scots of Dalriada written by Rowena Kinread is one such unique read for me. The story takes us on a journey through the history of Scotland and England. I would say that the way the author has narrated the story will shift the readers to those historical periods and places along with the bookish characters ! Undoubtedly, those who read this book will love it for sure. The Scottish Kingdom was established after merging with the Gaelic Kingdom which was one of the toughest journeys to go through. The entire story is set around this idea. The story focuses on the journey of the three brothers named Fergus, Loarn and Angus who were exiled. The issues, the problems and the tragedies they face are all depicted in the story! One thing that amazed me was - they kept fighting hard for what they actually need even during their toughest times. The way the author has concluded the story was quite satisfying!  The flow of the story is medium paced. I loved reading this captivating story and would recommend it to my fellow readers as well.

The Scots of Dalriada takes you to a historical world where valor is everything. It is very little we know about the history of Scotland and England, how they came into power at first. But the book takes you on a journey of action and adventure, family drama and revenge to entertain you till last. All the characters have a distinct role to play. The book felt like I am watching a movie.

The fact that this book is based on real people and a real event adds an extra dimension to this well researched novel. All the details of life in a remote Swiss valley add extra interest to the story and the reader finds it difficult not to be emotionally involved with the lives of the characters. The title is taken from the matchstick industry located at the foot of the Swiss Alps in the last half of the 19th Century. He was looking forward to meeting his unborn child. But the storm changed everything.  Now he is a widower with two traumatised boys and a newborn desperately in need of nourishment. With his home destroyed by a lightning strike, Anton must find the courage and the money to start again.  Prepare to be moved by the story of a poverty-stricken family and a matchstick factory that would leave tragic consequences on the close-knit community.  The Matchstick Boy by Rowena Kinread is a sweeping historical novel that follows the lives of one family across four generations. Kinread's novel is set in the fictional village of Weissbrügg in the beautiful Swiss Alps. 

The conversational tone is very prominent in Kinread’s narrative. Despite being written in the third person, the story felt like a direct conversation between the author and her readers. The way it was told made it feel like a memoir, giving the story a deeply personal touch. The later chapters of this novel centres around a courtroom hearing, and the author modifies her writing style to mimic the formal atmosphere, with the court proceedings primarily presented through documents and letters. The author's writing style gave the impression that she was quietly passing these documents to the reader while narrating her story. This style of writing is quite unique, but I think it worked really well.  The author’s knowledge of this era is evident throughout this novel. It's obvious that Kinread has devoted countless hours to studying this era of history, and her effort has certainly been rewarded. I found the historical background of this novel to be genuinely authentic in its portrayal. In the same way, the author skilfully depicts the essence, purity, and peril of the Swiss Alps. The beauty of the Alps quickly turns into fear as the protagonists face the unpredictable forces of nature - whether that be a thunderstorm, an avalanche, or a flood. 

Throughout this novel, poverty remains a constant theme. Kinread thoroughly examines the impact of poverty on the people of this village and the surrounding areas. There are countless illustrations between those who have and those who do not. Different degrees of poverty are also shown. There are those with a roof over their heads, and those who are left starving out on the street. Kinread also explores how the local community reacted to the desperation of families who had nothing, and who travelled to the local towns in the hope of aid and/or work. There were those, like Margot, who tried to help, even though she lived in poverty as well, but there was only so much that could be done. As the story progresses there are men such as Reverend Moser who tries to stop the exploitation of children by the matchstick factories, but he faces insurmountable odds, for the factory owners are determined to carry on exploiting children and the impoverished families need the extra coins the children brought home. Kinread depicts the impossible situation that those in poverty faced. There is always a small flame of hope that they can pull themselves and their children out of poverty but realistically, with things the way they were, that was never going to be possible. It was utterly heartbreaking when young Jakob, who had been encouraged by his family all his life to save so he could become an apprentice, realised that he would never have enough money to pay for the apprenticeship and thus, never be more than what his father was.  

Anton Schneider was a character that I really came to care about. He suffers some terrible losses in this novel - first his wife, and then his son. But he is determined to keep a roof over his family's heads and so finds work at the local matchstick factory. 

Through the depiction of Anton and his family, the reader begins to understand how much power the factory owners had over their workforce. While their employees worked in hazardous conditions with no appropriate ventilation, a lack of clean running water, or proper sanitation, the owners lived like kings. The rich got richer while the poor were paid survival wages only. The factory owners cared not one whit about their workforce. With huge unemployment, everyone who worked for them was expendable and could be easily replaced. In these dire factories, young children worked anything up to 14 hours and were beaten if the manager deemed it necessary. Food was scarce and medicine was expensive. Anton risks his life in the poisonous phosphor steam for one and a half francs a day. He knows the danger of working with phosphor, but he doesn’t understand the long-term effects on his health. I thought Anton’s character was wonderfully drawn.  Jakob, the son of Anton, played a pivotal role in advancing the story. The reader meets Jakob as a young boy who has just lost his mother. He is a child just like any other, the only difference is he is living in poverty. Similar to his father, he believes that hard work may help him overcome poverty. It is sometimes difficult to remember that Jakob is just a child, for he works long hours, either in the factory or with his Uncle Gustl, and he does not have much time to play. Similar to the other children, he attends school but is additionally burdened with long hours of work in the factory and he has only limited food rations. He believes that by saving diligently now, he can afford an apprenticeship later in life, sacrificing treats and sweets except for one moment of weakness. He is a very thoughtful child and his kindness in the face of such suffering makes even the local undertaker pause for thought. His friendship with Berta was one of the highlights of this novel. Jakob is the kind of character that readers can truly get behind and it was a delight to witness his coming of age.  

Apart from poverty, this novel features multiple antagonists. Firstly, there is Helga who believes she is superior to her family because her husband has a decent job, to the point that she refuses to breastfeed her starving niece, Anton's motherless newborn. Hari, her son, grows up pretending to be pious but actually wants to swindle people and move to America. Ramun, who is the son of a matchstick factory owner, is the most odious among all the antagonists. He is a spoilt child and grows up to be an entitled adult. He is indifferent to the lives he ruins and he believes money can cover up any wrongdoing. He rapes and abuses countless women but it is only when he attacks Jakob’s disabled daughter that other women come forward to the police with their own accusations of abuse. Ramon is an entirely disagreeable character. While his crimes were horrific, they exemplified the power imbalance between the wealthy and the poor, and his character made for a sombre read.  The Matchstick Boy by Rowena Kinread is a novel of haunting beauty that will keep you engrossed until the early hours.  I Highly Recommend.  Review by Mary Anne Yarde The Coffee Pot Book Club

The Missionary by Rowena Kinread is a brilliantly written historical novel about Patricius, who later came to be known as St. Patrick.

The Missionary is my first Kinread book, and I’m going to say that she hit it out of the park.

I’ve always had a passion for history. It doesn’t matter to me so much whether work like this is fiction or non-fiction, as it’s the groundwork that goes into them that’s detailed and obviously well researched.
